Hit-Boy & The Alchemist – GOLDFISH

Hit-Boy & The Alchemist – GOLDFISH cover

“Two of the best in the coast of the West (Know it).” With these words, The Alchemist kicks off GOLDFISH, his collaborative album with Hit-Boy. It exudes confidence and the drive to constantly defend their position through dedicated work on quality music. This unique duo of producers, who also rap, released the EP THEODORE & ANDRE in 2024, followed by the album Black & Whites (w/ Big Hit), where they were primarily producers. Their full-fledged rap album GOLDFISH, which they also produced, dropped last week. The album premiered alongside a feature film of the same name starring Hit-Boy, The Alchemist, Rory Culkin, Blake Anderson, Shara Magomedov, Marshall Manesh, Sarah McDaniel, Danny Trejo, Big Hit, Conway The Machine, Slink Johnson, Simon Rex, Essyona Peschong, and Lefty Gunplay. The film has been seen by only a select few, but you can stream the album everywhere—and you should.

After the singles the artists released earlier, we expected mostly a dose of top-tier fun rap full of their braggadocio punchlines. GOLDFISH, however, also offers plenty of introspective tracks, allowing you to get to know the personal stories of both producer giants more deeply than ever before. Standout moments include the track Ricky, which has a must-see music video, and Recent Memory. Of course, there are also the laid-back fun tracks—Business Merger has been a banger since day one. It’s fascinating to see two very different artists collaborate on an album and be so natural in that collaboration, opening up emotionally while still having a blast the entire time.

NOVINKY

The truest!

The truest! It’s been over a year since Navy Blue released his last album, Memoirs In Armour, and everything points to a new project arriving later this year. On his Instagram, Navy has been gradually revealing the tracklist. The Bloodletter, Orchards, God’s Kingdom, Sunlight of the Spirit, Guardadas, and My Heartbeat are the tracks revealed so far (as of October 25), each accompanied by an image serving as a moodboard. Navy also shared part of the music video for the single produced by Child Actor. We wouldn’t be surprised if the album ends up having eleven or twelve tracks and drops this Friday on Halloween.

Mac Miller – GO:OD AM (10th Anniversary)

Ten years after the release of GO:OD AM by Mac Miller, the acclaimed album comes alive again. His estate has released an expanded edition featuring three previously unreleased tracks: Royal Flush (feat. Vinny Radio), Cable Box, and Carpe Diem. All originate from the original sessions and feel like letters from a time when Mac was seeking balance between chaos and calm. Carpe Diem shines the most – a free, fun, yet sincere track. “It’s only me, myself and I,” raps Mac, sounding more like an sigh than a phrase. Ten years after the album’s release, his voice still heals, in the way Mac describes at the end of the track: “I can fix you with the music.”

Streams Of Thought Vol. 4

Fans had been waiting for the debut solo project from the frontman of The Roots until 2018, when Black Thought released the EP Streams of Thought, Vol. 1. His first full-length solo project, Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane & Able, arrived in 2020. It now seems another installment is on the horizon. In a joint conversation with Redman for Rolling Stone, they compare their rises in the ’90s, discuss losses and life lessons, and enthusiastically talk about the art of lyricism. Most intriguing is the tease for Streams of Thought Vol. 4, which the rapper describes as his opus. “In many ways, I feel like it’s my opus. It has the most features, the most elaborate beats, and crazy samples,” he revealed. Due to the samples, which require clearance, the release of the album is taking longer than everyone would like, but this wait is expected to soon come to an end.

Mike Shabb – fight the power!

Mike Shabb - fight the power! cover
Mike Shabb – fight the power! cover

Welcome 2 da Terrordome. Mike Shabb, the most distinctive contemporary rap artist from Montreal, is an innovator whose work inspires like few others. In March this year, he released the phenomenal album shabbvangogh, where he showcased his love for music and constant drive to create a new sound. On his second album of the year, he is even more ambitious. fight the power! is a visionary work pushing the rap genre further while paying tribute to its revolutionary potential. Expect militant modern rap rooted in the essence of Public Enemy but sounding contemporary—actually, futuristic. It’s absolutely fascinating that Mike Shabb produced this album entirely himself. Prepare for Sun Tzu–type beats and epic chaos, all under his complete control. The influence of Caribbean music and culture adds another dimension to the beats. Each track is packed with ideas that could fill entire discographies for some artists. For example, crickets! combines a dancehall sound with a hypnotic sample and Shabb’s immersive trap flow, while TANK! is pure madness, awakening, and a call to rebellion. Revolutionary, anti-system, and anti-imperialist themes run through every track; fight the power! tells the story of an outsider (public enemy) number 1, resisting an unjust system in a hostile world while also battling his own emotions. Free All The People.

YUNGMORPHEUS & Dirty Art Club – A Spyglass to One’s Face

YUNGMORPHEUS & Dirty Art Club - A Spyglass to One's Face cover
YUNGMORPHEUS & Dirty Art Club – A Spyglass to One’s Face cover

YUNGMORPHEUS has resurfaced from the smoke with an album that feels like a nighttime walk through memories. A Spyglass to One’s Face, fully produced by Dirty Art Club, is both calm and unsettling. Lo-fi jazz, wandering thoughts, and rap that almost whispers. From the very first track, Introducing…, you’re drawn in. MORPHEUS sounds weary yet balanced. His voice, speaking of certainties, conveys that he has long realized none truly exist. Every bar feels like a diary entry. Meanwhile, producer Dirty Art Club weaves a soundtrack that sounds like it was recorded on a dusty tape: fragile loops, muted pianos, and jazz samples that break like light through cigarette smoke. The entire album flows like a single long evening, where time dissolves between a drink and a quiet sigh. The moment Cavalier, Lukah, and Zeroh come together on 10,700 Day is a pure highlight. Four voices, four philosophies, yet all resonate in a single tone. YUNGMORPHEUS never seeks attention superficially; his rap flows quietly, hypnotically, telling stories that will touch you.

Sphere47 – ORBIT 2: AS THIS SPHERE SPINS

Sphere47 – ORBIT 2: AS THIS SPHERE SPINS cover

Sphere47 returns with his second orbit, the project ORBIT 2: AS THIS SPHERE SPINS, a universe entirely of his own making from start to finish. Every detail—from the lyrics to the mix, the cover to the mastering—bears his signature, and you can feel it in every tone. This album isn’t just music; it’s a stream of consciousness. Sphere47 speaks, whispers, shouts, and reflects. On HIT THE ROAD JACK, this is most evident—a dark confession about leaving, losing, and surviving. The production is introspective, almost meditative. Every beat breathes: layers of synths, distorted samples, and occasional silence that speaks louder than words. Sphere47 feels like he’s sitting in an empty room, letting the microphone run until only truth remains. Nothing on ORBIT 2 is polished. It’s raw, personal, slightly broken, and that’s its strength. Sphere47 sounds like someone lost in his own universe, yet determined to name it, dissect it, and ultimately turn it into music.

Bruiser Wolf & Harry Fraud – Made by Dope

Bruiser Wolf has a gift for rapping about heavy topics in a way that makes you smile—not because it’s funny, but because otherwise you wouldn’t survive it. On Made by Dope, he teamed up with producer Harry Fraud, a master of moody, velvety beats that sound like Miami at three in the morning—calm, yet dangerous. The album feels like a film about survival, about growing up in chaos where everything is fragile, but your faith in yourself keeps you together. Fraud’s beats are cinematic, airy, and almost elegant, while Bruiser Wolf injects grit and truth into them. On Eye Owe You, he sums up everything that makes his rap exceptional. It’s the confession of someone who’s been through hell but never stopped laughing: “Went from no motion to slow motion, but stayed focused. Shit can pop at any moment.” There’s pain and pride, perspective and fatigue. This is the sound of a person who has lived it all and still wants to create. Guests like Benny the Butcher, Mick Jenkins, and Curren$y add weight to the project, but the core remains Bruiser, with his stories that balance reality and absurdity.

Daylan Gideon & A1 Devin – Champagne Tears

Daylan Gideon & A1 Devin - Champagne Tears cover
Daylan Gideon & A1 Devin – Champagne Tears cover

The title Champagne Tears captures the fundamental essence of the new album by Atlanta rapper Daylan Gideon and producer A1 Devin, uniquely blending melancholy with the celebration of success. The rapper, who has already released one album and two EPs this year, reflects his dedication and the achievements he has earned in life on this latest project. A1 Devin’s beats carry a distinct flavor, combining soulful sounds with trap energy—perfectly complementing tracks about the hard work and sacrifices Daylan made to reach his success. The centerpiece of the album is the title track, led by a truly beautiful sample. Another standout is Just Bars II, where Daylan slows down for a moment and shares everything on his mind with the listener, unfiltered. No official music video has been released for the album, but here is the video for the track IHYRN.
