NEWS OF THE WEEK

7xvethegenius – Self 7xve 3 cover

7xvethegenius has always stood out as one of the most distinctive artists from Conway’s Drumwork Music Group. Her The Genius Tape was featured in our Top 100 Best Rap Albums of 2023, and we’ve been closely following every project she’s released since. Last week, the Buffalo rapper debuted under her own label, Broadband Sound, as part of a new distribution deal with Roc Nation Records. With Self 7xve 3, 7xvethegenius closes her trilogy with her most introspective and vulnerable album yet — experience her vivid, deeply personal story.

Right from the intro track, Stay, you realize this album is deeply personal. 7xvethegenius takes a different approach — gritty rap gives way to an emotion-filled flow, deliberate word choice, and sung hooks. The chorus of Twin sets a gentle tone for the whole record — and it’s in that gentleness that we find the strength of an artist unafraid to reveal her flaws. A clear highlight is Worthy, which picks up the pace with an outstanding hook. It’s no surprise that this is the track that got a music video.

NEWS

Run Toward The Monster

After ten years of waiting, it finally happened: Detroit titans Apollo Brown and Ty Farris have joined forces for their collaborative album Run Toward The Monster. A raw manifesto on survival, self-awareness, and the courage to face one’s own darkness. No masks, no heroes—just reality burning like frigid air between concrete. The first taste, Flawless Victory (feat. Top Hooter), is out now—a hard-hitting, introspective epic about discipline, honor, and the fight within. Farris raps about how real wounds aren’t worn on the skin but in the soul, that fame means nothing when you lose your peace, and that victory can only be flawless if you remain human after all battles. Apollo Brown delivers what he does best: gritty, soulful beats weighted with experience, while Ty Farris slices every syllable with surgical precision and the calm of someone who’s seen it all. Run Toward The Monster drops on November 14, 2025, and it’s already clear this won’t be just another rap album but a study in inner strength.

Infinite DVD Episode 1

A few days ago, as part of the Legend Has It… series, Infinite by Mobb Deep was released. It is the first album from Mobb Deep since the death of Prodigy in 2017. Havoc and The Alchemist have revealed multiple times that they had a wealth of Prodigy’s verses, which they used as best they could. Both artists fully produced the album and approached Mobb Deep’s legacy with the utmost respect. Fans of The Alchemist know that he often films vlogs that let us follow his artistic journey. He was shooting these vlogs already twenty years ago, so now you can watch Mobb Deep – Infinite DVD Episode 1. Expect never-before-seen footage from Mobb Deep’s studio sessions and tours, filmed by The Alchemist, Prodigy, Black, and Gerard between 2001 and 2006.

Goat Stamp

August 2024 brought a huge surprise: Stove God Cook$ released a new project. Four years after his debut album, Reasonable Drought, entirely produced by Roc Marciano, he dropped the long-awaited second project. However, it wasn’t a full studio LP but an EP titled Stop Callin Me, I’m Cookin (Side A), released exclusively on the EVEN platform. Many rap fans were left with a bitter taste, as it wasn’t a full album and the release was low-key, without major announcements. His second LP has thus remained one of the most anticipated projects of recent years. Last week, however, Stove God Cook$ hinted that it might finally arrive soon. He posted the cover of a new project titled Goat Stamp, set to drop on November 28. Announcing a single more than a month in advance would be unusual, so we’d bet this is indeed the long-awaited second LP. We used to pray for times like this!

BEST ALBUMS

Errol Holden – Roc Marciano Presents: MULBERRY SILK ROAD

Errol Holden – Roc Marciano Presents: MULBERRY SILK ROAD cover

Rapper Errol Holden already released a great album this year – Supreme Magnetic came out in February, but the real turning point in his career is his latest release. His second album of the year is so cold that Roc Marciano himself left his mark on it: MULBERRY SILK ROAD by Errol Holden is a must-listen. The artist teamed up with THE ILLUSTRIOUS PIMPIRE and initially released the album exclusively on his website a few weeks ago. Since last week, it’s been available on all streaming platforms. On this new album, Errol is utterly determined, cold, confident, and focused, his vision and cadence reminiscent of Marciano. Right on the first track, he mentions “How I make sound visual,” a concept that resonates throughout the album. Minimalist beats give Errol space, and you’re hypnotized by his cold flow and bone-chilling voice. The album is full of surprises, like the beat switch on PERHAPS IN THE NEXT or skits that lend cinematic depth. Errol isn’t a newcomer, yet this release feels like a pivotal moment that will bring him to a wider audience – and we’re glad for that, because it’s truly quality rap.

KATUS MYLES X DYLANTHEINFAMOUS – SIGNALS

KATUS MYLES X DYLANTHEINFAMOUS - SIGNALS cover
KATUS MYLES X DYLANTHEINFAMOUS – SIGNALS cover

SIGNALS by KATUS MYLES and DYLANTHEINFAMOUS feels like an intimate diary of two people who decided to capture their silence, wandering, and uncertainty between the beats. Katus Myles raps with a disarming openness that at times feels almost vulnerable, while DYLANTHEINFAMOUS (who also appears under the alias Dylan Gray on the track STAINED GLASS and on the Bandcamp bonus APC) paints entire worlds around him. Minimalist and gently glitched, with a melancholic pulse. Each track has its own mood, yet everything holds together like a collection of unsent messages. TEACH ME (feat. Hunter Bavaro) plays out like a film scene — a dance between student and teacher, but also a metaphor for learning intimacy. The lyrics are tender, ironic, and deeply human. Katus flirts with the edge of innocence but never crosses into cheapness; instead, he pulls you into that moment where you want to understand someone but can only express it through bars. The soundscape of the album blends lo-fi soul with modern rap minimalism — elusive at times, but never aimless. Dylan has a sharp sense of space, letting the beats breathe, allowing Katus’s voice to sound honest, sometimes painfully raw.

Dave East – Karma 4

From the very first listen, it’s clear that Karma 4 isn’t just another installment in the series but a personal chronicle of a man who’s survived his own hell and remains hungry. Dave East sounds more mature than ever — he still carries that Harlem grit, but between the lines, you can hear a sense of calm that comes when you stop trying to prove something. The album peaks early with Bottega Trunks (feat. Stove God Cooks) — both rappers go bar for bar like they’re daring each other to out-survive reality. You can feel the confidence, but also the exhaustion of always having to prove yourself. Stove God Cooks complements him perfectly with his barroom poetry: “That stove I used to cook on, they should put it in the Louvre.” That’s the kind of line where the past turns into legend. Guests like Larry June, Wiz Khalifa, and Mozzy all blend naturally into East’s world — no one overshadows him. His flow feels cinematic; you can hear the Harlem rooftops, the smell of gasoline, the echo of bad decisions. Respectfully (feat. Larry June) sounds like a conversation between two men who’ve realized that peace is the ultimate luxury, while Winning Feel Better (feat. Wiz Khalifa) brings a breath of lightness after all the storms. Production-wise, Karma 4 is a perfectly balanced mix of luxury and street — at times sampling, elsewhere stripped-down and minimal, leaving space for East’s commanding delivery. The result is an album that feels undeniably real.

RU$H & Tha God Fahim – LUXURY ART 3

RU$H & Tha God Fahim – LUXURY ART 3 cover

On Luxury Art 3, RU$H and Tha God Fahim don’t need to show off — they just keep building their world. A world where luxury isn’t measured by brands, but by the calm with which you speak the truth. Everything here feels like a continuation of a long meditation on success and patience. Tha God Fahim, who produced the entire album, stays true to his signature style: analog beats with a jazzy touch, vinyl crackle, melodies that sound like a quiet Sunday morning after a turbulent week. But this time, there’s more space between the samples — as if both artists consciously took a breath, slowed down, and let their thoughts resonate. It’s not about flexing; it’s about inner discipline, about finding balance between the material and the spiritual. The album opener, Luxury Art 3 Intro (Vintage Louis Vuitton Flows), sets the tone with a sense of ease — like that first sip of morning coffee, a reminder that everything has its rhythm. DUMP FENDI COCAINE PLAZA and Mink Coats on the Glass Floor deliver classic “dump gawd” imagery: luxury brands, raw street grit — but always from a reflective distance. RU$H and Fahim don’t sell you a dream; they offer a perspective on the journey itself. On Saint Laurent Dior Aura, the pace slows — the beat flows like liquid gold, and both rappers’ delivery is sharp yet unhurried. It’s here that you realize Luxury Art 3 isn’t about external luxury, but the luxury of knowing who you are. No music video was released for the album, so we’re sharing the full project instead.

J Scienide & Giallo Point – Flashes In The Dark

Flashes of brilliance shine even through the darkest environments — that’s the core idea behind Flashes In The Dark by J Scienide & Giallo Point, an album that both embodies and proves it. Rapper J Scienide and producer Giallo Point have had an incredibly productive year, yet their creative momentum shows no sign of slowing down. If you’re familiar with their work and distinct styles, Flashes In The Dark will not disappoint. It’s pure, honest rap that honors the golden age boom bap while still sounding refreshingly current. Tales from the darker side of life are wrapped in sharp, punchy beats filled with scratches and samples. Illegal stands out as a reminder of what strict hip-hop truly sounds like.
