NEWS OF THE WEEK
“This game’s meant for select few”
Future and Metro Boomin are undoubtedly two of the greatest and most influential artists of our time. The rap giants have enjoyed huge success around the world, yet even the most die-hard rap fans can find their way to their music. Both have been instrumental in the creation of new sub-genres and have perfected their unique sound. Future’s voice is unmistakable, and Metro Boomin produces beats that leave no one standing still. We’ve known for a while that they were planning a collaborative album. However, not many people expected that we would be getting two albums. The first one, WE DON’T TRUST YOU, is already playing in your headphones, and the second one will be released on April 12th.
“Got a lot of fucking garbage ass rappers out there, running around like, These ni**as ain’t supposed to be rappers. You know what I mean. This game is meant for a select few, man.” WE DON’T TRUST YOU has everything fans could want. Both Future and Metro Boomin are on top form, incredibly confident and sparing no one. The album could have been a little shorter, yet it holds together perfectly. Adding to the experience are the speeches from the legendary Prodigy of Mobb Deep, which you’ll find scattered throughout the album. The album features guest appearances from artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Playboi Carti. Kendrick even lightly disses Drake and J. Cole, so rap fans really got everything they wanted.
NEWS
Rome Streetz answered a lot of interesting questions
Rome Streetz is a rapper; we wouldn’t have dreamed of not releasing a project this year. His latest album, Noise Kandy 5, isn’t even a year old, yet we’re slowly making our way towards what’s to come. To pass the time on the flight, Rome Streetz answered a few questions on Twitter. The charismatic rapper also picked a lot of interesting ones and revealed some insight. New music is coming out sooner than we think. Rome also revealed that his next record with DJ Muggs is 80% complete. The rapper has so much in the stash that he wouldn’t need to record anything new and could be releasing records by the end of 2026. That’s why we shouldn’t expect a joint record with Conway; there’s just no time for it. Now we’re moving into the waters of speculation. Rome Streetz has hinted that we may be in for a joint album with Boldy James. The rapper further revealed that the album he will soon release will be completely produced by the producer, whose alias rhymes with Jay-Z. Anyone have any ideas? Our pick is Wavy da Ghawd.
Roc Marciano holding Gold Crosbow
Roc Marciano will release his anticipated album, MARCIOLOGY, on Friday. Marci had a surprise for us last week in the form of the pilot track Gold Crossbow, which means one thing: we can expect the best contemporary rap again. Roc Marciano also revealed the tracklist, so let’s check it out. We can look forward to fourteen tracks, ten produced by Marciano himself, two by The Alchemist, and two by Animoss. Guest appearances from Larry June, CRIMEAPPLE, T.F., Flee Lord, Jay Worthy, Knowledge The Pirate, and Gre8t Gawd.
Rapsody showed off her mastery behind the mic
Rapsody just shook the airwaves during her latest appearance on Power 106, where she unleashed her rap talent on Justin Credible as a gift to celebrate Women’s History Month. Rapsody not only showed off her mastery behind the mic but also handed out flowers as she reinterpreted Beyoncé’s Naughty Girl and SZA’s Snooze into her own rap language. But that’s not all! In addition to her vibrant performance on Power 106, Rapsody stopped by for a Stand Tall interview with actress Sanaa Lathan. In the interview, Rapsody didn’t just stay on the surface but opened up a discussion about the importance of self-love and self-care. We can’t wait for the upcoming album.

BEST ALBUMS
mary sue – Voice Memos From A Winter In China
mary sue, a rapper from Singapore, released two excellent projects last year. In July, he released For Sure, and in October, he teamed up with Psychedelic Ensemble. to immerse listeners with the ambitious CACOPHONOUS DIGRESSIONS, A RECORD OF A MOMENT IN TIME, which ranked high on our Top 100 Best Rap Albums of 2023 list. This year, he’s expanding his ever-growing catalog with Voice Memos From A Winter In China, an album he made while touring in China. As we’ve written more than once, mary sue is an absolute master at capturing the mundane emotions, details of the everyday, and the ephemeral nature of life. Concerting in China gave him plenty of incentive to soak up the country, the culture, and, most importantly, the people. Voice Memos From A Winter In China is like sipping a fine Chinese oolong. Whether you drink it alone or with friends, it has the essence of something ancient and universal. You have to approach it with respect and try to feel it.
Cartie Curt – NEVER CAST PEARLS TO SWINE
Cartie Curt delivers an explosive new album, NEVER CAST PEARLS TO SWINE, offering listeners an uncompromising look into the dark and dynamic alleys of his mind. The lyrics are raw and straightforward, with Curt’s trademark style standing between witty and provocative. The record is full of playful rhymes and lively metaphors that spice up his approach to rapping. The production on the album is also perfectly balanced, with each beat taking the listener into the dark and cold streets described in Curt’s lyrics. NEVER CAST PEARLS TO SWINE is the culmination of Curt’s creative vision and his ability to express complex ideas through rhyme and rhythm. For fans looking for rap music with a deep message and gritty energy, this album is an essential listening experience. Unfortunately, no music video was released for the album, so we are attaching the video for the track Money Cant Buy Trust.
Santana Fox – Eye Candy
Santana Fox, daughter of Prodigy, releases a stone-cold and powerful album where you can find not only great music but also deep messages and provocative lyrics. Guest artists such as Mike Shabb, Prodigy, and Pohlosweater add further variety to the album, while Santana’s own poetic power shines through every track. The lyrics are full of emotion and introspection, intertwined with themes such as identity, battling external pressures, and finding strength in one’s own self. It’s a journey into the inner world of the artist, where we encounter her deepest thoughts and emotions.
Flee Lord & Crisis – Full Court Press
Full Court Press is like an unstoppable explosion of energy and authenticity. Flee Lord and Crisis join forces with guest artists like Conway the Machine, Inspectah Deck and Mummz to create an album that is like the relentless defensive basketball tactics of the full-court press. The lyrics are incisive and full of meaning, while the production offers dark and dynamic soundscapes that will literally get stuck in your head. Full Court Press is a display of true artistry that resonates with anyone who desires authenticity and power in music. Unfortunately, no music video was released for the album, so we are attaching the video for the track OLD SCHOOL WAYS.
MichaelAngelo – No Face, No Case
MichaelAngelo is one of our favorite contemporary producers. We dedicated an entire article to this unique artist when we dissected his distinctive music videos in our rap travelogue. MichaelAngelo released a great record this year with Primo Profit called On The Road, but on the No Face, No Case project, MichaelAngelo himself is at the center of the action. No Face, No Case is a mysterious world, a mystical place that is all around us, yet unseen by mere mortals. It’s a mysterious criminal underworld like the world of David Lynch‘s Twin Peaks: The Return. MichaelAngelo draws inspiration from the underworld and its mysterious atmosphere, imbuing each track with an irresistible aura of mystery and grit. The producer enlisted a number of top rappers to tell his story, including CRIMEAPPLE, Primo Profit, RLX, Daniel Son, Shaykh Hanif, Elcamino, Clovis Ochin, LPH Crack, and LPH Stat. No Face, No Case is a journey into the heart of the underworld, a voice that lures you into the world behind the curtain. Unfortunately, no music video was released for the album, so we’re attaching the video for the track Tell Me Where Your Going.
