NEWS OF THE WEEK
Tha God Fahim is releasing at such a frantic pace that we don’t even know where to put him in our articles anymore. That’s why we’re putting him at the forefront of our Rap Weekly this week. Fahim is undoubtedly one of the best rappers working today, and he’s been producing above average for years, but what he’s doing this year is unprecedented. Sit back as we bring you a list of the records he has released this year. Chess Moves (with NicoJP), Dark Shogunn Assassin (with Camoflauge Monk), Iron Bull, Notorious Dump Legends: Volume 2 (with Mach-Hommy), Shot Clock King 4 (with Nicholas Craven), Berserko (with Oh No the Disrupt), Dump Gawd Reloaded, Dump Gawd: Tha Knocking of Loose (with Sadhugold), and last week he dropped Dump Gawd: Rhyme Pays (with Mike Shabb).
It should be noted that Fahim does not really follow the rule of quantity over quality. All of his projects are fine-tuned to the last detail; he collaborates with first-class producers, and on every album he spews his inexhaustible supply of great lyrics with a cadence all his own. Thus, his latest project, Dump Gawd: Rhyme Pays, is another flawless piece of his bottomless discography, on which Mike Shabb proves that he is not only one of the best young rappers but a producer as well. Of course, Tha God Fahim doesn’t hold back and announces a project with producer Cookin Soul. We wouldn’t be surprised at all if the album dropped this week. Don’t forget to support the artist on his Bandcamp; he deserves it.
NEWS
Here comes the sequel to the cult classic, here comes Black Elvis 2
We didn’t expect this one. The intergalactic legendary rap entity Kool Keith will return with another album this year. After the great Serpent, which was produced by Real Bad Man and proved Kool Keith still sounds incredibly fresh, comes the sequel to one of the most legendary rap albums of all time. This year, the rapper will follow up his 1999 cult project, Black Elvis/Lost in Space. Here comes Black Elvis 2. The album will be released on June 16 under the Mello Music Group label. We can look forward to sixteen tracks featuring guest appearances from Marc Live, Raaddrr Van, Dynamite, Agallah, and Ice-T. Productions are handled by Marc Live, Kool Keith, Raaddrr Van, J. Stylez, and L’Orange, who provided the cover art. We’re already incredibly excited for the stunning trip through the hip-hop universe and the top-notch Information Age bars that will soundtrack beats that are equal parts street and space.
Estee Nack and Benny The Butcher announce their biggest records
Estee Nack has been very productive this year, but his biggest album is yet to come. He’s working on a record that Westside Gunn himself is helping him with. The album will be released under the Griselda label and will definitely be Nack’s most ambitious project to date. Westside Gunn revealed on Twitter that they have one last session left, and the record will be ready. The expectations are astronomical.
Benny The Butcher is also preparing his biggest project to date. The album Everybody Can’t Go, which will be Benny’s debut under the Def Jam label, will be released on Aug. 11. Alchemist and Hit-Boy will handle all production. The combination of these two very different producers is sure to bring a totally unique vibe that Benny will make the most of.
Conway The Machine will release his anticipated album on Friday
The wait is finally over; on Friday, May 5, Conway The Machine will release the first part of his anticipated album. The album will be titled Won’t He Do It and will be split into two parts. The first part features fourteen tracks. It will feature guest appearances from Westside Gunn, Ransom, Juicy J, Sauce Walka, Dave East, Jozzy, Jae Skeese, 7xve, Goose, and Drea D’nur. The rapper dropped a hearty taster in the form of the single The Chosen feat. Jae Skeese. This duo just works. Can’t you wait to hear it too?

BEST RELEASES
YUNGMORPHEUS – From Whence It Came
YUNGMORPHEUS is definitely one of our favorite contemporary artists. Besides amazing covers, he prides himself on great lyrics, and his new album doesn’t disappoint here either. Throughout its runtime, the record conveys a perfect, calm energy that is guaranteed not to bore you. The rapper gets into topics like religion, inequality, aggression, and sex. YUNGMORPHEUS does his job masterfully, and thanks to his storytelling skills, he doesn’t bore the listener but instead entices them to listen to each new track.
CRIMEAPPLE – YDFWC?3
CRIMEAPPLE returns with its YDFWC? series and concludes the trilogy. This installment is also in a similar vein as the previous two, so you can look forward to the dark, hard, boom bap productions that CRIMEAPPLE has proven himself in several times. Once again, the rapper proves that this sound is home turf for him. The production is handled by Loman, Chow, Buck Dudley, and Oh No. He has brought on one guest to help out, and that is the brilliant and uncompromising Daniel Son.
soo do koo – GLAD U ARE HERE
We admit that we only discovered the rapper soo do koo thanks to his latest album, GLAD U ARE HERE. The talented rapper from Albany, New York, completely blew us away. His laid-back delivery of great lyrics caught our attention on the first track of the record and didn’t let us go until the end. The whole album is very atmospheric, and in addition to great rapping, it also offers perfect beats. The album was produced by soo do koo himself, except for the track MOSSED! (produced by August Fanon), for which he deserves huge admiration. The album also features guest appearances from Døøf and Fly Anakin, so you have no reason not to give the album a listen. We look forward to delving deeper into the rapper’s discography and hope to hear more from him later this year. You can support him on Bandcamp. No music video has been released for the album, so we’re attaching the full album.
Tree Mason & Spanish Ran – A.NY Ghetto U.S.A
This duo has already had several collaborations, and we are not afraid to say that the A.NY Ghetto U.S.A album is definitely one of the best. Spanish Ran has proven to almost everyone over the years that his productions are second to none. Tree Mason swims his beats with absolute skill; he’s not the best lyricist, but he has well thought-out punchlines that you’ll even have fun with. Only Bloo Azul makes a guest appearance on the album. There is no music video for the album, so we attached an older video.
Heather Grey & Chuuwee – MIXTAPE
Rapper Chuuwee and producer Heather Grey release a new collaborative MIXTAPE. Almost two years ago, these names teamed up for the last time, releasing the track Two Benzes, a follow-up to their previous collaboration The Answer. Finally, we’re getting another project, and the title already suggests that you won’t find a concept here but rather tracks that needed to get out already. Which we’re glad for; this approach is certainly better than if the tracks had remained stuck in a drawer. The project alternates between a modern sound and boom bap, which certainly doesn’t sound dated. Heather Grey proves that he can produce any beat, and Chuuwee has no problem jumping on it and destroying it. The artists don’t have a music video together, so we’re attaching the whole album.
