There is no doubt that rapper Boldy James belongs in between the best current rappers. Talented artist from Detroit released 4 albums in 2020, one year later he gave us 2 more projects and last year he delivered another four strikes in forms of Killing Nothing (w/ Real Bad Man), Fair Exchange, No Robbery (w/ Nicholas Craven), Mr Ten08 (w/ Futurewave) and Be That as It May (w/Cuns). Unfortunately, on the Monday of 9th of January Boldy James was a part of tragic car crash of two cars and suffered from the injury to his neck. We wish rapper to get better soon.
But it would not be a Boldy James if he could get stop by something like this. Even though his condition still requires medical attention you can listen to his latest album Indiana Jones on streaming services. Album was completely produced by RichGains (known for his collaboration with Freddie Gibbs) and once again proved us that there is no beat that he cannot conquer. Pray for Boldy James.

A$AP Rocky reminisce on his album and A$AP Yams
One of the most influential albums of the last decade Long. Live. A$AP was released on 15th of January 2013 and changed the whole scene. For the occasion of the album’s anniversary rapper released new clip for the track Angels with name Angels Pt. 2. Three days later it was 8 years since rapper A$AP Yams died tragically and for this occasion rapper prepared a new emotive track called Same Problems? to which you can listen to below.
Should we be expecting release of new album by Stove God Cook$?
Member of the Griselda Records released his debut album Reasonable Drought in 2020 and since that has been featured on tents of different tracks all around the scene but his own new project is still nowhere to be seen. Rapper and whole label (Westside Gunn included) was teasing us about the release for few months now, so is it almost in the grasp of our hands? We could see a short snippet with a countdown, that would suggest release date on 3rd of February on godcooks.com website. Is that a release date, or maybe just a pilot single? Either way, we cannot wait.
DJ Muggs composed a music for the movie
From 19th of January to 29th of January there is a prestigious film festival Sundance going on in Salt Lake City. Now you might ask Why do I read about a movie festival on a web about rap? It is because legendary producer DJ Muggs together with Dean Hurley composed music for the movie Divinity that has a world premiere on the festival. Visionary sci-fi movie was directed by Eddie Alcazar and you can watch a trailer for it below.

Oddisee – To What End
Fans of the rapper Oddisee had to wait 6 years for his new LP. His last album Iceberg was released in 2017 and ever since that we got just one EP Odd Cure (2020). Thankfully, the wait is over, here is the album To What End that offers exactly what we were expecting. Rapper is complex in his lyrical expressions when he describes things around us, melodical productions full of great samples offers exactly what we were waiting for all those years. Unfortunately there was no video released for the album so let’s listen to Own Appeal.
Tha God Fahim & NicoJP – Chess Moves
Tha God Fahim is back. Last year we got 4 different projects from this artist and apparently, he plans to be very active this year as well. On his first EP of 2023 he joints his forces with producer NicoJP and together they gave us six great songs. Beats are easy to listen and Fahim is once again very sharp behind the mic. We are always glad to hear lyrics from the rappers that talk about running away from the unwelcome world of the suburbs they were raised in. No clip has been released for the album as of yet so we have a clip That Coldest.
Kota the Friend – Lyrics to GO, Vol. 4
As it usually is on 18th of January rapper Kota comes back with another Lyrics To Go, this time with the fourth instalment already. We can expect 10 songs with soul and jazz productions that Kota simply loves and just after one listen you will see that rapper becomes one with the beats. Do not expect something conceptual, these lyrics are just extra bars for which rapper needs some use. Important to mention that this use is probably the most fun one. Album will not disappoint anybody and if you like soul productions, you will love this project.
Xp The Marxman – Diamante De Las Madres vol. 2
Xp The Marxman is unstoppable. It is not even a one month since the beginning of 2023 and rapper is delivering his 2nd project. Diamante De Las Madres vol.2 is a follow up on the first part of album of the same name released on 6th of January. Soon we can expect another album Diamante De Las Madres with remixes. Xp The Marxman has a lot to offer, and his second project has a same quality as the first one. Great beats, rapper’s chilling voice and tough lyrics are proven recipe for the great album.
Astral Trap – Capsule Of Tyme
Let’s go for another journey through the Astral Trap’s psychedelic world. Rapper from Washington chooses mostly experimental productions and creates unique music which you will not hear from anybody else. His personal writing is imprinted into every track and from the whole project breaths unique atmosphere. Let’s listen to JEAN GOD since there was not clip released for the album.
