Rap Weekly 19: Mike Shabb will be famous

Welcome to our Rap Weekly number 19, it is a format where we bring you all the hot news from the scene, all new releases, clips, announcements that you should not miss. Today’s news feed is filled to the brim, Mike Shabb is heading towards a big things. Nas and 21 Savage both featured on one track and Boldy James is working on another album. What albums and music videos has been released last week? That and much more is just a one scroll away.

NEWS OF THE WEEK

Talented producer and rapper from Montreal Mike Shabb released his debut album back in 2018, album was called Northwave and ever since that delivered another 7 projects. Earlier this year he gave us album Sewaside II and the newest one Bokleen World and that is the one where artist brought his style to perfection. Mike produced whole album by himself which just proved us that he can stand on both sides of the barricade.

His flows remind us of something that we would expect from more mainstream rappers which would rap into trap beats. Rapper picks/produces great beats full of amazing samples and original ideas. It is not by accident that we can see him side by side with Nicholas Craven on a regular basis. Mike’s talent was recognised even by Westside Gunn which let him produce track Switches on Everything for his latest album 10. Mike Shabb is starting to build quite a name for himself, and you can be sure that this is not a last time we hear about him.

NEWS

Nas and 21 Savage on a one track?

Legendary rapper Nas released amazing album King’s Disease III and confirmed why he stands where he stands. New album (Her Loss) was also released by 21 Savage, one of the most famous rappers of the last decade. In middle of the November 21 Savage said about Nas: “He’s not relevant, he just has a loyal ass fan base… and he still make good-ass music,” through the social media site Clubhouse.

This was not the best way how to formulate his thoughts and if seemed to be fairly negative and aggressive towards the legend. Via Twitter he put things in a right order and said that he holds Nas and other legend in a very high regard. Both artists then sort out their ”beef” by the best way possible and released a joint track One Mic, One Gun.

Boldy James is unstoppable

Boldy James is not slowing down. There is very small number of rappers which are able to release such a high number of amazing music just like one of the most talented rappers from Detroit which this year released albums Killing Nothing (w/ Real Bad Man), Fair Exchange No Robbery (w/ Nicholas Craven) and Mr. Ten08 (w/ Futurewave) and if you though that this would be enough you are terribly wrong. On 14th of December, we can expect album (or maybe EP) completely produced by Cuns which was responsible for production of EP Salud Y Plata (w/Crimeapple). For the release of this project will be responsible independent label Tuff Kong Records.

B. Cool-Aid is back

B. Cool-Aid is a duo comprised of rapper Pink Siifu and producer Ahwlee. Duo released their debut album BRWN in 2017 and two years later followed up with a project Syrup. Now they released double-clip for the tracks COO and usedtoo. Pink Siifu announced that new album is coming soon. You think it’s gonna be this year? We certainly hope so.

BEST RELEASES

Ty Farris – Pain For Ya Vein

Veteran from Detroit returned. After his EP Moments of Mayhem (w/ Slim One) earlier this year and album Fluorescent Mud which was produced by Swiss producer Sebb Bash, here comes the Pain For Ya Vein. Again, we can expect first class lyrics about rapper’s life experiences, stories from drug underground and issues of this social environment without any glorification whatsoever. In between the producers on this album, you can find names like Graymatter, Stu Bangas or Spanish Ran. You have to give it a listen.

The Musalini & Izzy Hott – Game Not Soul’D

The Musalini is one of those names that you should definitely pay attention to. Rapper from New York released album The Don & Eye earlier this year, album was produced by 9th Wonder, and album Pure IZM, which was produced by Khrysis. Now rapper joint his talent with rapper Izzy Hott and both of them delivered easy going texts and great flows which perfectly compliment amazing beats. Album has same as Musalini’s earlier projects its own unique vibe and is very easy to listen to and get lost in it.

Koncept Jack$on – HTR Vol: 1 The Legend of Tawny Tone

Another unique project. Rapper from Richmond Koncept Jack$on has such a unique rap style which is completely uncomparable to anything else on the scene. Similar to Rahiem Supreme (the only guest on the album) Koncept is flowing through the beats with his own unique and fascinating style. His flows are chaotic, but very precise in a same moment. Majority of the album was produced by no.face so what you can expect is very personal innovative sound full of extraordinary samples.

E L U C I D – BRB GOTTA GO CHARGE MY TOOTHBRUSH

E L U C I D already delivered one of the best albums of the year – I Told Bessie and if we are completely honest, we did not expect another project from E L U C I D this year but as we should have learned by now, people from Backwoodz Studioz will always surprise us. So here it is, E L U C I D and his BRB GOTTA GO CHARGE MY TOOTHBRUSH. You can expect very small number of vocals, this album is much more concentrated on instrumental music. Project will submerge listener into the vortex of unique experimental beats which you will not hear anywhere else. Unfortunately, there was no clip released for the album as of yet so let’s watch video for the track Spelling.

Note from the editor: We apologize for the wrong information, the album was released two years ago, but we’ll leave it here because you should hear it.

We will finish our picks for this week with great EP. Fact that AJ Suede is a first-class rapper is no secret within the community, he already released 4 amazing projects this year but that apparently was not enough for him so here is the 5th one. AJ took care of production, mix, master and the cover of the Little Do Whatever EP for rapper Astral Trap which released great projects Wicked Witch Of The PNW PT.2 and Floral Compass already this year and with his newest project proved to all of us that he definitely belongs in between the most talented names from Seattle. No clip has been released for this project but we have got your backs with WHEN I SERVE FOLKS.
