News of the week
Duo comprised of producer Nicholas Craven and rapper Boldy James released songs Scrabble, Death & Taxes and Power Nap this summer and we low key hoped that announcement of the album will come soon and here we go, they will release their first joint project on 30th of September which will be probably called Power Nap. Artists did not release cover art yet, but they already gave us a tracklist.
Boldy James loves to release albums produced by only one producer, in a past few years he worked with Sterling Stones on his Manger on McNichols, three collaborations with Alchemist and two albums with Real Bad Man and album The Versace Tape with producer Jay Versace. Nicholas Craven is one of our favorite producers from Canada so our expectation for the album is astronomical but after the three tracks we got (two of them will be on the album), we are not worried about quality of the project.

Freddie Gibbs added wood into fire
Freddie’s long expected project $oul $old $eperately will finally release on Friday. Rapper performed great freestyle in a Cookin Soul show and released second single Dark Hearted from his upcoming album, production of a song has been taken care of by James Blake. He also shared a tracklist, we can expect 14 tracks with guests Kelly Price, Offset, Moneybagg Yo, Rick Ross, Anderson .Paak, Raekwon, Dj Paul, Pusha T, Musiq Soulchild and one bonus track with Scarface.
Black Soprano Family against the violence
Hip Hop and guns goes hand in hand together, a lot of rappers came to close contact with them and do not hesitate to mention it in their lyrics. But usage of guns and violence in general is not something that should be glorified, and the best artists are fully aware of that. Benny The Butcher and his independent label Black Soprano Family (BSF) in collaboration with Anti Gun Violence CO brought us line of merch that encourages to resolve our conflicts in nonviolent way. Slogan ,,Shoot Hoops Not People” has definitely thumbs up from us.
Don Estee Nack
V DON is one of our favourite producers. We wrote about his album Deutsche Marks in our recent Album of the Week. Producer recently tweeted: ,,ESTEE NACK + V DON ALBUM IS A MOVIE.” We can most likely expect joint project with rapper Estee Nack and that is a collaboration we were not even dreaming about.

Best releases
Ankhlejohn – Found Lonely in Las Vegas
Ankhlejohn is the one that never disappoints, we took apart his album Van Ghost in one of our Album of the Week and three of his albums were on our list Top 50 of 2021. Rapper this year already released two Eps: The Four Knights Game and The Four Knights Game 2 to which we can now add Found Lonely in Las Vegas where most of the productions has been taken care of by Prime Manifez and then Zoomo and August Fanon each produced one track. We can expect great sampled loops and rapper’s unique style. Unfortunately, Ankhlejohn did not release any accompanying clip for the album so give a look to Morton’s Menu.
SmooVth & Fredro Starr – Project Near You
Member of legendary duo Onyx Fredro Starr took under his wings talented rapper from New York underground scene SmooVth and they created great project. Fredro produced whole project and SmooVth delivered his calm rap full of well worked through movie stories. Not many people can paint such a detailed paintings with their words like artist from Hempstead, Long Island. Raw New York sound is then exactly what rapper needs.
Ransom & Mayor – This Life Made Me
Ransom is rapper about which we will hear a lot. His last year albums Heavy Is The Head and Coup De Grace belongs on our TOP 50 2021 list and we had a lot of fun with his project No Rest For The Wicked released earlier this year. He again proved us that he rightfully belongs in between the best lyricists of his time. Whole project was produced by Mayor that took care of perfect beat for the track Last Gap which you can find on this album and also on 7 Shots by 38 Spesh that we wrote about two weeks ago. There was no clip released for the album so feel free to listen and watch clip to Overnight Success from album No Rest For The Wicked.
Big Kahuna OG – Blockavelli 2
Rapper Big Kahuna OG belongs in between (together with Fly Anakin and Henny L.O.) the members of Mutant Academy. Rapper invites us on maybe our last visit to Block Island on his new album called Blockavelli 2. If you still do not know him, you should not hesitate and go listen to this album right now. His unique style will not let you go. Guests are 3wayslim, MARS, Fly Anakin and Henny L.O. Unfortunately, Big Kahuna OG did not release any accompanying clip for the album so give a look to Seance from album Flameboy Advance.
Harvey Gold – The Gold Vein
Talented producer from Norway released his debut album Genre Time in 2021, but when you will listen to his new project The Gold Vein, you would not say that he is basically a rookie, but he is a seasoned veteran. Every single beat is absolutely amazing, each track perfectly connects to the previous one and whole 50-minute runtime is full of innovative ideas. Harvey Gold invited whole list of interesting guests for example dedwrite or Kennedy White. Track Gold is then 11 minutes of perfect posse cut in which you can expect Unruly, A-43, Nyan Tun, Patty Honcho, MANSDEM, Paradoxic.King, KnowItAll, King Havana, Frans, Mourning Run and Asani Hard. The producer only has The Gold Vein album announcement on his YouTube, so we’ll take you straight to his Bandcamp.

This is how you do a rap in 2022. Quantum Leap is track that has completely everything. Roc Marciano & The Alchemist proved us that they are on a completely different level then the rest of the scene.
Up Against The Wall; A Degree of Lunacy is album that we just cannot get enough of. Track Tighten Up (feat. Ahwlee) definitely belongs between best tracks of the year.
J.U.S and his album GoFundMe Corvette took care of two things, firstly gave us a great music and rapper can enjoy a sweat ride in his new Corvett.
Xp The Marxman and Flee Lord. Delgado and The Big Mijo. Name of the track speaks for itself and let us tell you, this is a collaboration we wanted to hear.
REASON is a little bit of an outsider in label TDE, but his new track Sign Language is a banger
