News of the week

Black Star - No Fear of Time cover
Black Star – No Fear of Time cover

At the end of the last month Talib Kweli called out Eothen Alapatt AKA Egon, founder and president of the Now-Again Records, on his Instagram. Egon has been a parasitising on rap culture for some time now, sabotaged the release of No Fear of Time by Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli) when he asked for more then half million dollars. At the end of the day album has been released exclusively on Luminary.

But that is not all, Talib Kweli and Jasmine Dumile (widow after the deceased MF DOOM) said that Egon stole MF DOOM’s books full of rhymes roughly 20 years ago. In her interview for Complex Jasmin said: “We can confirm Eothen ‘Egon’ Alapatt is illegally in possession of rhyme books owned by MF DOOM. There have been many unsuccessful attempts to get these back prior to DOOM’s passing. We had hoped after DOOM transitioned Egon would do the right thing and return the books to the family but he has continued to ignore these requests. Unfortunately, Egon is not the only former associate abusing the likeness, art and life’s work of DOOM, more will be said at the appropriate time. “

The only thing we can do now is to hope that DOOM’s family will be able to recover his books and rats like Egon will be outcasted.

Album features names likes Rick Hyde, Heem, LoveBoat Luciano, Boldy James, Chase Fetti, Stove God Cook$ or Conway the Machine. SonnyJim & The Purist – White Girl Wasted

SonnyJim & The Purist – White Girl Wasted cover

SonnyJim is not just one of the best British producers but also one of theirs best rappers. On his last project Sonny joint his forces with producer The Purist who produced for the names like Danny Brown, Roc Marciano or Westside Gunn. This album was in works for more then four years but trust us when we say, waiting was definitely worth it. Album is mostly about the paranoia connected to the selling & using drugs. Some of the guests are MF DOOM, Jay Electronica, DJ Premier, Madlib, Milkavelli or Lee Scott. Short twenty minutes length is full to the brim. Unfortunately release of the album was not accompanied by any clip so let’s listen to 24 Karat from album Mud In My Malbec.
