Welcome to our third Rap Weekly. Articles where we are bringing you sum up of the all-important news in the world of rap, announcements and events that you cannot miss. In between highlights of this week belongs announcement of the release date for J.I.D.’s third studio album. One of the most anticipated album was released last week with features from A$AP Rocky and MF DOOM. Can you guess which one is it? Well, continue reading and see for yourself.
News of the week
On 26th of August 2022 will be released not just collaborative album of Roc Marciano and Alchemist but in between the others also third album of J.I.D. Extremely successful rapper from Atlanta will release his third solo album The Forever Story, that comes 4 years after his last solo project DiCaprio 2, follows up on The Never Story from 2017. With release date we also got a cover of the album and release of single Dance Now (with Kenny Mason) accompanied by a musical video. One of the songs on the album should also be already released Surround Sound (feat. 21 Savage & Baby Tate) and album should be featuring 15 tracks.

New album also was announced by Open Mike Eagle, unique rapper and comedian will be probably better known to the fans of alternative music. Artist took more then 2 years break after his last album Anime, Trauma and Divorce and this time around gives us album called tape called component system with the auto reverse that has been inspired by blank tapes, CTA bus rides and WHPK in 1997. Album will be released on 7th of October. Production has been taken care of by Diamond D, Madlib, Quelle Chris, Illingsworth, Child Actor a Kuest 1. Featuring artists are still rift, Video Dave, Aesop Rock, Armand Hammer, R.A.P. Ferreira, Serengeti and Diamond D. Cover and first single you can find below.
You already know why we think that al.divino is absolutely unique from our last Album of the Week. Divino besides of releasing solo projects also works quite often with rapper Estee Nack. Their unique chemistry is comparable to basically nobody on a scene. These two announced album Triple Black Diamonds 2 that will be continuation of their joint project from 2018 and will be released on 9th of September but that’s not all. Finally after few months you can listen to their album Gl1tch on all streaming platforms and buy it on vinyl. Until now it was accessible solely on Bandcamp.
Producer and rapper Theravada released MY OWN 2 HANDS back in May. Last week he released new album called Up Against the Wall; A Degree Of Lunacy if that would not be enough Theravada also announced on his Twitter that he plans to release 3-4 more projects this year.

Danger Mouse & Black Thought – Cheat Codes
Finally, after more than 3 months from its announcement rapper Black Thought (from The Roots) and producer Danger Mouse released their joint project Cheat Codes. Both of these artists had a huge influence on the whole scene in the past and this album proves why they belong in-between the best what Hip Hop ever offered. On this album are featuring Raekwon, Joey Bada$$, A$AP Rocky, Run the Jewels, Conway the Machine or MF DOOM.
zoomo – Cloyd
Talented producer zoomo from New York is much less known than we would like. Joint by rapper YL, zoomo released In Memory Of back in April (one of the best projects of this year so far). Now he comes back with new album Cloyd on which he invited many interesting guests. Names like Chuck Strangers, Starker, ANKHLEJOHN or The Hidden Character are one of the bests on the whole underground scene. One of the features is done by the producer Sadhu Gold. Absolute neccecity for everybody.
Your Old Droog – Yodney Dangerfield
His already third solo album this year released Ukrainian-born American rapper Your Old Droog (YOD). If you are familiar with artists music from the past, this album won’t surprise you. You can expect great beats and very smartly written lyrics. Unfortunately, release wasn’t accompanied by any musical video so we are suppling you with clip from album Transportation.
The Musalini & Khrysis – Pure IZM
The Musalini already released great album The Don & Eye earlier this year that has been produced by talented 9th Wonder. But obviously (just look at this article) one album a year is not enough so Musalini is back with project Pure IZM. About the production took care Khrysis and delivered soft, very easy to listen beats that are great company for Mussalini’s lines.
