TOP 50 Best Rap Albums Of 2021

We are SudetyRaport, Your favorite rap plug, and welcome to our TOP 50 BEST RAP ALBUMS OF 2021. We wanted to officially start our web with this article because it is a very good example of what you can expect from us going forward. You may ask why we are releasing this list basically in a middle of the 2022, answer to that is simple, we didn’t want to rush anything. We listened to more than 1000 albums (we are not joking, it’s a lot) that has been released in 2021 and carefully chose TOP 50. We tried to equalize number of not so well-known rappers and big names on the scene. It wasn’t a simple task and we could easily expand whole list for another 200 albums without any second thoughts and all of them would be still absolutely amazing so take the list with grain of salt. Instrumental albums, compilations, and EPs are not included.

Before we start let us do some honorable mentions that didn’t make a list. 50. YL – Adaptation

As we cannot start our list of best albums of 2021 anywhere else then in NYC. YL, rapper from Lower Manhattan, released a few projects last year. Album Adaptation is inspired by the movie of the same name from the director Spike Jonz and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman. Album is a manifestation of YL’s free-spirited style. The songs on this album does not have a certain themes is more of a mixture of artist’s feelings and perfect productions.

49. Conway The Machine & BigGhostLtd. – If It Bleeds It Can Be Killed

First project from Griselda on our list is a collaboration between Conway and BigGhost which we have seen before and definitely didn’t see for the last time. This album is something for a fans of raw hip hop and contains one of the sharpest lyrics we have heard form Conway in a while. Album just takes 30 minutes to listen to but each of these minutes is priceless. Conway’s lyrics are ruthless as usual talking about money, street, murders but this time around offers little bit more of a quotable moments and verses. If It Bleeds It Can Be Killed is definitely one of the most interesting projects that Griselda recently released and remarkable act from Conway.

48. Rasheed Chappell & Xp The Marmax – Rx

On this underground gem worked artists from both coasts of USA. Rasheed Chappell from New Jersey and Xp The Marmax from Los Angels are collaborating together on a few great tracks. Both artists released great solo albums and their chemistry on this project bring the breath of fresh air to the scene.

47. Observe since ‘98 – Le Dernier Royaume

Position of the first producer album on our list took mystical Observer since ’98. As name suggests album has a little bit of a Frech flair to it. Producer selected French samples that he works real magic with, but dark beats are not the only thing what you can expect from this album. Observer invited one of the hardest underground names to work with him. For example, you can expect Knowledge The Pirate, Mav, Planet Asia, ANKHLEJOHN and many more. This album contains what we and every fan of this genre loves. Jazz boom bap rhythms with amazing drums connects perfectly with tough rap.

46. Quentin Ahmad DaGod – N.O.A.H

Bruiser Brigate Records, label by Danny Brown, had a very productive year. They brought a lot of unique projects. For example Bruiser Wolf – Dope Game Stupid, J.U.S – GOD GOKU JAY-Z or TV62. We would like to put all of their work into our list but unfortunately only two of them made it in. The first is album N.O.A.H. from Quentin Ahmad DaGod. Rapper’s lazy flow, sense of humor and production with a touch of jazz sucks the listener in with its unique atmosphere.

45. MIKE – Disco!

You probably won’t dance much on this disco. It’s more of a sit down with your headphones and enjoy the melodies type of a music. MIKE likes to project his wisdom and sense of humor into his lyrics and his voice gives the performance absolute uniqueness. Even tho he is just 24 years old he definitely doesn’t seem like a rookie. MIKE works with his idols and is becoming idol for the others. His journey is definitely not finished and he is still exploring unknown depths. All the tracks have been produced by MIKE himself under the pseudonym dj blackpower. Disco! works as a breakthrough for the MIKE. A lot of listeners saw his early music unfinished like he would be still missing something. But with this album he proved everybody that he has a complete pack and other artists should be the ones who will take an inspiration from his work and creativity.

44. Aj Suede – Avada Kedavra

Aj Suede is a unique voice from Seattle and he was fascinated by religion & myths since the beginning of his career so got ready for some really thought through, complicated lyrics. For the uniqueness of the whole album is also party responsible rapper’s sense for the pick of the productions which is just underlining words that he says.

43. YUNGMORPHEUS & ewonee – Thumbing Thru Foliage

YUNGMORPHEUS can be funny but also dark on this socio-political interwoven album. Thumbing Thru Foliage feels better putted together then their earlier solo albums thanks to the YUNGMORPHEUS depth and ewonee’s attitude towards the production. Album is very colorful, full of metaphors and punchlines feels like abstract art. All the tracks are unique so you can listen to the album in whatever mood you are in, anytime you feel like. No matter the type of a song from melancholic or cheerful, there is always some depth.

42. Jam Baxter & Sumgii – Obscure Liqueurs

With album number 42 we are going abroad from the USA to the England and straight to the sound that is the closest to us. Jam Baxter is a part of label Blah Records which is compiling great talents, in between the others Lee Scott or Black Josh. Their alternative, abstract sound is the best thing that can British rap currently offer. Sumgii was responsible for the production of the whole album. His experimental, electronic urban beats perfectly compliment Baxter’s poetic pictures and yes, the whole project is really obscure.

41. YL – It Never Entered My Mind

Second album from already mentioned YL, It Never Entered My Mind is little bit longer and more diverse than Adaptation not just by the featuring artists but also type of a melodies you can hear. Earlier mentioned YUNGMORPHEUS is featured on one the tracks or the Starker which cooperates with YL very often and by himself took few positions on our list. We can’t clearly say if this is YL’s best album because we believe that no matter what part of his discography you’ll listen to, it will be a blast. Rapper completely ignores pace of the beats and his perfect flow fits with everything perfectly.
